Evelyn Rae came into our clothing donations room at Lighthouse Mission
today looking for just a couple of things that would be helpful while she was in
the hospital. Turned out that she came to Winnipeg from her First Nations
community with her brother as her companion but he abandoned her shortly after
arriving and she was feeling very scared and alone. Even though she came to the
mission for some pieces of clothing for her to take along, she was by far the
most grateful for the Bible that we gave her and knew that it would bring her
comfort as she dealt with her fears and anxieties about being alone. She took refuge in the verse that we gave her
from Hebrews 13:6 The Lord is my helper, so I will have no fear. What can mere
people do to me? It gave her comfort to know that even though her family and
others left her alone, God would never leave her side.
We just want to thank Give The Word for giving us the Bibles to help
people like Evelyn Rae. We had the right Bible for the right person at the
right time.We are a Canadian ministry, equipping local outreach projects with the contemporary and free word of God. Simply put, we....Give the Word! We are a ministry partner under Equip Canada. Charity# 889540738RR0001

Bibles for Camps
What price can you put on seeing children come to know Jesus? Providing Bibles to camps is such a huge part of our ministry and we work so hard at raising funds to provide them with the Bibles they need. Many of the Bible camps we work with are the smaller ones who have a tough time meeting their own budget. These camps are always in need of Bibles and rely on us to make them available. Many of these Kids also come from unchurched homes and so these Bibles are given to the kids to take home with them. These Bibles might be the first ones that their homes have ever seen.
One of these camps is Lakeshore Bible Camp. I have gotten to know Tim Enns - Pastor of New Hope Church on Henderson highway, which is part of Lakeshore Bible Camp. Tim has a passion for the Word and connected with me about making Bibles available at their camp. Because of the generosity of our supporters, Lakeshore Bible Camp was able to give a Bible to every child that attended. The pictures above show some of these children receiving their Bibles. Please pray that the words written in these Bibles would also be written on each and every one of these childrens hearts. Pray that the parents of these kids would also come to know Jesus through the Bible and the Word would not return void.
Thanks again for supporting Give the Word. The Bible is the most important tool we have in reaching people for Jesus....but only when they're given away.

Give The Word - In Prison
I recently met with a few prison Chaplains here in Manitoba. I have grown to know many of these men and women that are so passionate about reaching inmates for Jesus. The two things that these chaplain are always asking for is prayer and Bibles. We as a ministry would like to offer both.
Give the Word has partnered with 5 prisons, four in Manitoba and one in Vancouver island. We are committed to giving these Chaplains the Bibles they need to reach these men and women for Christ.
I was at Headingley Correctional Institute this week (picture above) and had an amazing meeting with two of the chaplains working their. They told me a story of a gang member who had been saved through reading a Bible he got in Jail and is now leading a Bible study with a group of other guys with a similar past. The Bible is a book that is so often asked for in Jail but the supply is almost always low to give everyone their own Bible. We are doing everything we can to change that.
Please consider supporting Give the Word so that we can continue to help these chaplains in their outreach work. The Bible never returns void...but they have to be given away first.

Your Ministry, Your Church, Your Bible
One of the ways we like to Give the Word is to challenge churches and ministries to reach people in their own communites with the Bible. We partner with all kinds of outreach programs and events that churches and ministries have going and wondered how we could be even more intentional and effective in giving Bibles away.
The Abundant Life is a seeker friendly New Testament with nearly 25 pages of helps about what it means to have a relationship with Jesus. If a church or ministry wants to use these Bibles for their community outreach, we are going to print their logo, slogan and contact info right on the front of each Bible. When a person receives this Bible, they know exactly where it came from and who they can connect with if they choose.
Visit our website at www.Givetheword.ca and let us know if you would like to be a part of this outreach program.
Thank you to all our supporters and partners who have made these Bibles available.

Bibles in the North End
I've gotten to know Kyle Mason (Executive Director of the North End Family Centre - left) over the last number of years and he has an amazing ministry going. North End Family Centre takes in people from the roughest part of Winnipeg and offers them a multitude of opportunities to get their lives on track, but most of all hope, community, love and the message of salvation. I had the opportunity to walk into their ministry the other day to find about 25 people from the community sharing life together in the lounging area. These people were having so many needs met including food, clothing, job opportunities, friendship, and most of all, Jesus. Kyle had expressed to me that they are always in need of Bibles at the centre and I immediately responded. We are now partnering with the centre by donating all the the Bibles they need. As Kyle shared some testimonies of various individuals who have now accepted Christ, are free from their addictions and getting their lives back, I knew we needed to get on board with them. They truly know what it means to share the love the Christ with the poor and the broken.
We look forward to their calls saying that they need more Bibles. Thank you to all our supporters for allowing us to Give the Word to the North End Family Centre.
